23-Year-Old Woman Faces Charges for Role in Cleveland Street Takeovers
A 23-year-old woman has been indicted for her involvement in a series of dangerous street takeovers in Cleveland, Ohio, which disrupted public safety and caused significant concern.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley announced on Monday that Ashlyn Rogers has been charged with organizing and participating in seven street takeovers that took place on September 28 and 29. Rogers is accused of leading the events, using her Instagram accounts to share instructions and provide new locations to participants.
One of the takeovers took place near West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue, where Rogers was reportedly present, driving a white 2020 Infiniti Q50. Other suspects in the case include 20-year-olds Tyrique Loury of Garfield Heights and Jordan McDonald, who are also facing multiple charges for their roles in the incidents.
The takeovers involved a variety of dangerous stunts, including burnouts and donuts, blocking intersections, and preventing emergency vehicles from passing. Participants reportedly set off fireworks, vandalized a police car, and even wore masks and displayed firearms. One officer was injured by an airsoft gun, and three men were shot during the events.
Rogers was arrested on October 22 and is facing charges including aggravated riot, disrupting public service, and possession of criminal tools. Loury was arrested on October 23, and McDonald was arrested on October 15. The two men have been indicted on charges including aggravated riot, failure to comply, and tampering with evidence.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the takeovers and warn of the severe consequences of such actions, which put public safety at risk.
