Emma Watson’s Return to Acting
May 10, 2023
Emma watson will return to acting in 2024, following about a four year break. During that break she directed an ad campaign for the high end designer Prada.
Her career started in 1999 when she started to audition and later to film the first Harry Potter movies, a role she stayed in for the next ten years. Watson appeared in The Bling Ring (2013), This is the End (2013), Noah (2014), Beauty and the Beast (2017), and The Circle (2017) since then.
After starring in Little Women (2019), Emma Watson decided to temporarily quit acting and explore other options. Watson took a break from acting after realizing that she would like to be more involved in the writing process of the script, instead of only portraying what is in the script. She reported feeling trapped by roles that she did not have input in creating.
Emma Watson will begin attaining a masters degree in creative writing at Oxford University starting in September of 2023. While juggling both another degree and potentially returning to the film world could be challenging, Watson is confident in her decision. The movie/tv show she’s returning to has not been decided yet, only that she will accept a role that feels right for her.
