2022-2023 Ram’s Basketball Season

With the start of the 22’-23’ basketball season comes new athletes, new opportunities, and new goals for both the Women’s and Men’s basketball teams at Cleveland High.

Fans can hope for good chemistry on the court with the Women’s team having all their starters from last season returning along with Senior, Ainsley Stewart coming back from an injury at the start of last season. They have goals of making it to the state playoffs this season. Coming out of last season with a record of 7-17, they have a lot to prove. They are already off to a good start. They beat Durham-Riverside 58-11 and Smithfield-Selma 64-7. Throughout the off-season, they have been preparing by lifting and conditioning to get physically and mentally prepared for this season. “No excuses, no explanations” has been an emphasis from the coach Robby White throughout the off-season. With the preparation and returning players, it should be an exciting season for the Lady Rams.`

The Men’s team this season has big shoes to fill. Last year they ended with a 30-2 record and lost in the 5th round of the State playoffs. The team consisted of 6 seniors. Having graduated, this brings an opportunity for new athletes. In fact, the roster this year consists of only two seniors. There is a lot of potential for this young team. Goalswise for the Rams, Jackson Bradshaw says: “Beat Clayton!” On Monday, November 22, the Rams took a big win over Smithfield-Selma. It was close throughout the first half then the Rams control in the later stages of the game. If they continue with that level of play and energy It will be exciting to see what they can do.
