This year’s Manchester Derby saw Man City use two hat tricks to defeat Man United, 6-3. The win moved City within a point of the top spot Premier League table.
Shortly after kickoff, City was already attacking the goal with everything they had and it paid off in the 7th minute when Phil Foden scored. Then in the 33rd minute, Erling Haaland scored off a corner kick. After brilliant ball movement and building out of the back, Kevin De Bruyne assisted Haaland for another goal in the 36th minute. In the 43rd minute, a ball was deflected, and Kevin De Bruyne intercepted it and took it down the field. After a pass to Haaland shortly before being tackled, Haaland crossed it to Foden who scored his second of the day. In the 55th minute, Antony (Man U) shot an amazing goal from outside the box. Phil Foden crossed the ball to Haaland in the 63rd minute for Haaland’s last goal of the game. In the 72nd minute, Haaland assisted Foden for Manchester City’s last goal of the game. Manchester United scored two more goals very late in the game, but nothing could save them from the inevitable loss.
So what does this mean for City’s future? Erling Haaland is an inevitable force averaging 1.89 goals per 90 minutes, which is more than any other player in all of Europe’s top five leagues this season. Haaland is also the youngest player to score 25 Champions League goals. His chemistry with other players like Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne is undeniable. While City is still in second place in the table, they are the only team that is undefeated with a record of seven wins and two draws.
