Shooter Kills 11 in Racially-Motivated Buffalo Shooting

On May 14, 2022, a mass shooting occurred in Buffalo, New York. This shooting was classified as a supermarket shooting, which killed ten people and injured three. The public is stating that this shooting was racially motivated due to the fact that 11 of the victims were black. Not only was this event said to be racially motivated, the 911 dispatcher is on leave for hanging up on the victim calling for help during this shooting. The 911 dispatcher is at risk of losing their job.

While many events occurred that day, the main focus is the lives lost in this shooting. The shooter got out of his car while live streaming. He shot the first people he saw and worked his way into the building. He took innocent lives, and according to The New York Times, this was “one of the deadliest racist massacres in recent American history.”

Now, on this day when 911 was called from the scene, according to NBC News reported that the caller “was whispering during the 911 call because she feared the shooter would hear her. The store employee alleges the dispatcher shouted at her, asked why she was whispering – then hung up. The employee said she had to call her boyfriend and told him to dial 911 and report the shooting.” The 911 dispatcher is allegedly on a leave due to their actions and will potentially lose their job.
