Black Friday Deals Won’t Come Early This Year

This Thanksgiving holiday, businesses are encouraging employees and customers to spend time with their families.

Many major retailers across America will be closing for Thanksgiving this year. In recent years, many stores have been open on Thanksgiving, offering their exclusive Black Friday deals early to customers willing to show up on Thanksgiving. However, this year that is not the case, and the Black Friday deals will not be available to consumers until the clock strikes midnight on Thursday night.

Many of these businesses, such as Cabela’s, are encouraging both their employees and consumers to spend the holiday at home with their families.

Some business experts suggest that the Thanksgiving Day closing could be the result of an expected drop in sales compared to Black Friday shopping in previous years. RetailNext, a firm that tracks retail shopper traffic, predicts December 23 as being the busiest day of the year for major retailers across the country.

Retail consultant Shelley Kohan says “ As retailers have continued the trend to open more stores on Thanksgiving day, it has pilfered away both sales and traffic from Black Friday.”

So Kohan suggests that possibly the Thanksgiving closings are an effort to refocus sales and promotion back to Black Friday. A list of stores planning to close for the holiday include: A.C.
