Should NFL Coaches Have to Wear Masks on the Sideline?

Have you watched the NFL games lately, or paid attention to the coaches while watching? If so, you probably noticed the coaches have to wear masks. This is all due to COVID-19. Ever since the pandemic started, the NFL thought it would be in everyone’s best interest for the coaches to wear masks on the sideline, and since then, it has become a rule.

Not all the teams or coaches agree with this rule and have paid the consequences for not following it. The league has given out fines to both coaches and their teams. The 49ers, Broncos, and Seahawks all had a fine of $250,000 and many other teams are on the verge of the same. Even coaches who are wearing masks but not covering their noses can face the same consequences. They have had their warnings and must be more careful.

Do I think they should have to wear masks? No, I do not.

I think as long as they are getting tested daily, then there is no point. They are also outside and spread apart when on the sidelines.

Coaches are normally running all around the sidelines trying to communicate with their players. The masks make it harder to do so. Also, statistics show that most coaches are older (normally 49+) and out of shape, so the masks make it difficult for them to breathe and catch their breath while trying to lead their teams to victory.

When outside, the chances of airborne virus transmission lowers drastically anyways. Plus, they all end up coming into physical contact with each other at some point by the end of the day.

So who are they really trying to limit exposure to?

I think the rule is unnecessary and really isn’t helping anyone in the long run. COVID-19 has made us completely alter our lifestyles, and I, like several other people, am ready for it to be over.

I mean, we can’t even watch a normal NFL game nowadays.
