“I’m Thinking of Ending Things”

“I’m Thinking of Ending Things” was released theaters on August 28, 2020, and was added to Netflix on September 4, 2020. It is inspired by the novel of the same name by Canadian author Iain Reid from June 14, 2016. The book was a finalist for the Shirley Jackson Award for outstanding achievement in psychological suspense, horror, and dark fantasy writing.

It’s a beautiful, well-made, storytelling movie. The hidden messages and hints it shows throughout it are impressive. The expressions and emotions make viewers feel mixed feelings during it. That is what makes it great.

The movie focuses on a relationship between Lucy, who is played by Jessie Buckley, and Jake, who is played by Jesse Plemons. Lucy is a creative, artistic woman in her mid-20s, and Jake is a secluded, poem-loving man. They started dating six weeks ago, and Jake decided that Lucy should meet his parents at his childhood farm. She agrees. The longer Lucy spends with Jake’s family, the more she starts to question all she knew about her relationship, herself, and everything else.

The reviews have been mixed, and they show a deep divide in the audience.

The movie has a rating of 81% of fresh tomatoes while 47% Most of the ratings and reviews go a little something like, “This movie is confusing.” “What’s the point?” “Don’t watch this.”

Other reviews say, “This is phenomenal.” “Creative!” “What a Treat!”
